MITES
FYHA MITE HOCKEY
MITE HOCKEY (8 years old and younger) - Encourages the skill level development of all players. This is particularly critical at the Mite level so that players are provided with the foundation to enjoy and have success in the game.
- The focus for Mites is to teach and develop the basic skills of skating, puck handling, shooting and passing.
- Mites are generally organized into levels based on age, skill and the number of Mite players.
WHY is this a GREAT SPORT:
- Form lasting friendships
- Builds confident kids
- Great exercise
· It is Fun and a Great Time!!!
Three rules we instill in our players and coaches:
- Have Fun
- Give it your best
- Be a good teammate
FYHA MINI-MITE HOCKEY
Thank you for registering you child for Faribault hockey! I wanted to update you on a few items to clear up any confusion.
The current ice times are being run by a pool of coaches that have applied to coach at your level this season. There is no specific coach assigned to the team right now. The Mini-Mite/Mite/U8 players will be evaluated in November and placed on teams for the season (date TBD). Teams will only determine the ice times for your child on Game Days.
Ice times that are marked as Goaling training/goalie specific are for kids who have played goalie and want to be full-time goalies this season. Very few Mite/U8 (no Mini-Mite) kids fall into this area. Kids who want to try goalie will be given the opportunity during the season as we play in house 3 on 3 at the SSM mini rink.
GAMES:
Mini-Mites will play some in house 3 on 3 scrimmages at the SSM Mini rink this season. very limited to no scrimmages will be played against other associations.
Mite/U8 teams will play in house 3 on 3 scrimmages at SSM Mini rink. A limited number of scrimmages will be set up with outside associations (as outlined by our district).
